1-
There are no words to convey my shock and sadness regarding the tragic accident that took the life of Halyna Hutchins, a wife, mother and deeply admired colleague of ours. I'm fully cooperating with the police investigation to address how this tragedy occurred and— AlecBaldwin(HABF) (@AlecBaldwin) October 22, 2021

"I am in touch with her husband, offering my support to him and his family. My heart is broken for her husband, their son, and all who knew and loved Halyna."
On Thursday, it was revealed that Baldwin discharged a prop firearm, resulting in the death of 42-year-old Halyna Hutchins, director of photography for Rust, and the film's director, Joel Souza, was injured.
A statement from the Santa Fe Sherriff's Office confirms that the investigation "remains open and active" and "no charges have been filed in regard to this incident."
This incident is reminiscent of Brandon Lee's death on the set of The Crow in 1993. The actor, son of Bruce Lee, was killed when he was hit by a bullet that was in the barrel of a gun that was supposed to just have blanks.
"Our hearts go out to the family of Halyna Hutchins and to Joel Souza and all involved in the incident on 'Rust,' the statement from the Lee family reads.
"No one should ever be killed by a gun on a film set. Period."
Several people have taken to social media to respond to what happen on the set of Rust.
Halyna Hutchins should be trending number one on Twitter, not Alec Baldwin.
As a union sister in the Cinematographer's Guild, .@ICGLocal600, her death on the set of Rust reminds us that safety in the workplace is a basic human right. Period.#RIPHalynaHutchins #IASolidarity pic.twitter.com/jreIDXER7V— StandForBetter.org (@StandForBetter) October 22, 2021
So sorry for you all, Alec. Such a horrific tragedy to experience! 💔My deepest sorrows to Halyna's family and friends and the whole cast/crew at this time of sadness, devastation and extreme grief. Strength and solidarity to you all in this extraordinarily difficult time.

As an aspiring filmmaker, this'll be is something that I will take into account and remember for my own experiences. Film sets NEED to be a safe space for creatives and we have to ensure that this won't happen again. Halyna's passing may save lives going forward. Let's honor her.

I hope people understand that this tragedy was not your fault.

Doesn’t make sense - you don’t point props at cast or crew
“They then make sure that the actor stands on a mark and never points the gun at the crew or cast... the editing makes it seem like they were pointing at their co-actor.”— Tony Chuck 🇺🇸 (@hplc_tech) October 22, 2021
If you’re attacking Alec Baldwin for this horrible tragedy, you are a bad person. Full stop. This is profoundly traumatic for everyone involved. I cannot even begin to imagine the guilt, sadness and devastation everyone involved is currently feeling.
