  • Nick Jonas was a coach on season 18 of The Voice.

  • He replaced Gwen Stefani before leaving the show for season 19.

  • Now, Nick will be back for season 20 and Gwen is, once again, leaving the show, which made fans express concern.

Get ready for another twist, The Voice fans!

On Tuesday, November 17, The Voice shared a season 20 promo clip and announced that Nick Jonas is returning to coach alongside Blake Shelton, Kelly Clarkson, and John Legend. In the promo, Blake, Kelly, and John walk upon a meditating Nick who is off in his own head.

"I've been living and breathing The Voice since season 18," Jonas' inner monologue says. "I've honed in my skills. Channel your inner champion. Make Blake cry!"

Considering the 28-year-old singer originally replaced Gwen Stefani during the 18th season of the show only to step away for her to reenter the spotlight, fans everywhere are nothing short of shocked about the news.

“I love Gwen as a coach, what the heck?” one Twitter user commented on the announcement post.

“Unfortunately not a fan of Nick. Why can’t Gwen stay for more [than] one season? She is still my favourite,” another chimed in.

A few others expressed concern about Gwen's departure:

While some fans are less than thrilled about the news, others couldn’t be more elated.

“Yes I am so glad Nick is coming back. He's like the little brother Blake and John can pick on,” one user wrote, while another added, "OMG so excited to hear you are back!!! I can start watching The Voice again!!!"

As for the reason for the swap? It’s yet to be uncovered. Nevertheless, season 19 ofThe Voice is still airing, and season 20 is set to debut in the spring of 2021.
