Interested in a state Senate seat? Here’s how to apply for appointment to 56th District

A committee of Democratic party leaders from Madison, St. Clair and Jersey counties will soon appoint a replacement for State Sen. Rachelle Aud Crowe, who resigned from her 56th District seat.

Anyone interested in applying for the position can email a resume and cover letter to info@madcodems.com, according to information provided by Madison County Democratic Party Chairman Randy Harris. The deadline to apply is 10 p.m. Wednesday.

You can also email info@madcodems.com with any questions you would like the committee to ask of the candidates. The committee asks you to include your name and address with your questions.

The committee is comprised of Democratic party chairmen from each county: Harris from Madison County, Robert Sprague from St. Clair County and Mark Pohlman from Jersey County.

They will announce their appointment pick 11 a.m. Friday at Laborers’ Local 338, located at 47 W. Ferguson Ave. in Wood River. The meeting will be live-streamed for the general public. To RSVP to attend the meeting in person, send an email to info@madcodems.com.

Crowe resigned from the state Senate to take a job as U.S. attorney for the Southern District of Illinois.
