The band had only recently released their seventh studio album, No Tourists, in November last year, and had embarked on a world tour.
Flint, initially one of the band’s two dancers when they first formed in 1990, later became integral to their success, performing vocals on number one singles Firestarter and Breathe.
He was also a motorbike enthusiast, forming his own racing team, Team Traction Control, competing in the Isle of Man TT and the British Supersport Championship.
Following news of his death, a host of music industry figures paid tribute to him.
We are so saddened to hear about the passing of Keith Flint. He’s played here so many times with the Prodigy and was booked for 2019. What an incredible frontman. Keith, I only met you once, but I shed a tear at the news of your death. In our business, there are no prizes for being kind, but if there was, that Grammy would be yours.
