‘Melania Trump’ Tells Colbert She Thinks a Woman Should Be President

In an interview with Anderson Cooper Monday, Melania Trump claimed that her husband, Donald, was “egged on” by Billy Bush in the now-infamous leaked audio clip. So on Tuesday, Broadway star Laura Benanti reprised her role as Melania Trump on the Late Show With Stephen Colbert to discuss the topic further.

“Melania” told Stephen that Donald explained the concept of “locker-room talk” to her, which is, apparently, an American tradition. “I did not know this, but when American men gather to sport, they always brag of grabbing women by the Billy Bush.” She then defended the Republican presidential candidate by saying that all men are animals and then said, “If only a woman could be president.” When Colbert informed her that Hillary Clinton is a woman who could be president, “Melania” pretended she was on the phone and was losing reception as she ducked offscreen.

The Late Show With Stephen Colbert airs weeknights at 11:35 p.m. ET on CBS.
