Monsoon Turns Hong Kong Streets Into a Raging River

Torrential rain caused severe flooding in Hong Kong on Wednesday, October 19, and the Hong Kong Observatory issued a Black Rainstorm warning signal as the city was drenched by Typhoon Sarika. Traffic was disrupted as multiple areas, including Chai Wan, Fortress Hill, the Cross Harbour Tunnel and Princess Margaret Road in Kowloon were flooded.

Hong Kong and southern Mainland China’s Guangdong province braced for a separate typhoon on Thursday. Typhoon Haima edged close to the region after hitting the northern Philippines on Thursday morning, prompting authorities to evacuate more than 6,000 people from their homes in Vigan City, Ilocos Sur, according to the Manila Bulletin.
