Peel police on scene for 'barricaded person' in Mississauga, Ont., near Credit Valley Hospital

Peel Regional Police have alerted the public that there is "heavy police presence" in Mississauga, Ont., on Friday, near Credit Valley Hospital, with officers investigating a "barricaded person" incident.

Around 1:30 p.m. local time, police provided an update stating that this is an "ongoing" and "isolated" incident. Officers are in contact with the barricaded person, who is alone, and negotiations continue. There are no reported injuries.

The public is being asked to avoid the area around Eglinton Ave. W and Erin Mills Pkwy. The emergency department at Trillium Health Partners' Credit Valley Hospital is operational.

"This is an isolated incident that is contained," information from Peel Regional Police reads. "Information is limited and the investigation is ongoing."
