'It's pretty strange': A motel room that Alabama corrections officer Vicky White and escaped fugitive Casey White turned into their hideout now has a waiting list, receptionist says
  • Alabama corrections officer Vicky White and escaped fugitive Casey White spent 10 days on the run.

  • They hid out in a Motel 41 room in Evansville, Indiana, for part of that time before they were caught.

  • The room where they had stayed now has a wait list, a receptionist told NBC News.

The Indiana Motel 41 room that Alabama corrections officer Vicky White and escaped fugitive Casey White turned into a hideout now has a wait list of people who want to stay there,  a receptionists told NBC News.

"I'm getting like a million phone calls for it," the desk receptionist, who asked not to be named, told the outlet.

The receptionist said there were "quite a few people" on the waiting list for the room. WHNT reported that there are over 65 people on the wait list.

"It's pretty strange," the receptionist told NBC News.

The receptionist added that the cost of the room has gone up since the couple were apprehended earlier this month. A room at the motel costs an average of $63 a night, but room 150 now costs between $75 and $100 a night, NBC News reported.

The corrections officer and fugitive inmate were captured on May 9 at the motel, 10 days after they were reported missing by the Lauderdale County Sheriff's Office. On April 29, Vicky White said she was transporting Casey White to the courtroom for a mental-health evaluation but the pair never returned.

Vicky White died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound during the manhunt to capture the pair, who were not related. Casey White, who was being held on capital murder charges, is back in custody.
