Tragedy has hit Laval, Que., after a city bus crashed into a daycare on Wednesday morning, resulting in the death of two children, while six others are in hospital.

The bus driver, employed by Société de transport de Laval (STL), has been identified as a 51-year-old man. He has been arrested and charged with dangerous driving and homicide, while police probe if there was a deliberate motive.

The incident took place around 8:30 a.m., and involved a daycare in in the Sainte-Rose neighbourhood, Garderie Éducative de Sainte-Rose.

The six children in hospital are expected to survive. Following the crash, 12 people needed medical care, while eight others were transported to hospitals, according to Urgences-santé.
