Two arrested after man in wheelchair is left with life-changing injuries
Two teenagers have been arrested after a wheelchair-bound man was left with “life-changing” injuries after he was attacked last month.
The vulnerable man in his 30s was attacked alongside a friend in his 40's in the Cathedral Green area of Salisbury, Wiltshire.
Now two males, aged 17 and 18 and who are local to the area, have been arrested on suspicion of causing Grievous Bodily Harm with Intent and released on conditional bail.
Wiltshire Police said the pair were set upon and chased into the High Street and onto Crane Street by the youths at around 9:15pm on 19 July.
The force said the wheelchair-bound man suffered “potentially life-changing” injuries as a result of the attack, which left him “incredibly distressed”.
Detective constable Susan Ellway said: “This was a sustained attack, during which a vulnerable man has suffered serious injuries which have left him incredibly distressed.
"The incident happened in a public place with a number of members of the public believed to be witnesses.
"We have already obtained a number of witness accounts and we would continue to urge anyone with information to get in touch.
“Behaviour of this nature is completely abhorrent and will not be tolerated within our community.”
