Shania Twain honoured with CMT's lifetime achievement award
Shania Twain was the belle of the ball at CMT's Artists of the Year ceremony on Wednesday (Oct. 19). The Canadian songstress was honoured with the Artist of a Lifetime award for her four-decade career in music. "I don't want to get off the stage right now because I'm loving this moment," she told the star-filled audience, adding, "I love music, and I hope that it carries on for many more years in my life."

The 51-year-old, rocking a shorter hairstyle, looked stunning in a wide-leg black jumpsuit and silver accessories as she made her way down the red carpet outside of Nashville's Schermerhorn Symphony Center. Shania was joined at the event by this year's lineup of Artists of the Year, a list that included Carrie Underwood, Luke Bryan, Chris Stapleton, Florida Georgia Line and Thomas Rhett.

Prior to the show, Shania opened up about the honour to the Associated Press, explaining how much she appreciates being singled out for her catalogue of music. "I sort of feel like I’ve arrived at a point in my life that is being recognized and respected and appreciated. It’s a compliment and I will enjoy it thoroughly. Sitting there and watching these girls bring my songwriting to life in their own way; there is no greater compliment."
Before taking the stage to receive her honour, Shania was treated to a performance of her greatest hits by Carrie Underwood Kelsea Ballerini, Jill Scott and Meghan Trainor.
Shania credits her husband for helping her feel confident.
Speaking with US Weekly, the mother of one admitted that one of the reasons she's looking and feeling her best is thanks to her loving husband Frédéric Thiébaud. “It's not that I depend on him to give me confidence, but I do believe that my husband sort of confirms things for me. When I'm feeling good about something and then I get his vote of approval, then I'm feeling good.”
After wrapping up her Rock This Country farewell tour in Oct. 2015, the Timmins native has been busy working on new music. News on an album release date has yet to be announced.
