Be wary – there’s a combination of emoji which pranksters are using to crash people’s iPhones, simply by sending a text.

Scarily, you don’t actually have to open the text – it’ll freeze your phone, even if you don’t open it.

There’s two variations, Pocket-Lint reports, with one made up of a white flag, a zero and a rainbow emoji – plus a hidden command which tells the phone to combine the two emoji.

When the phone can’t do it, it crashes.

There’s a second, more complicated version which affects all iPhones (the first one only works on phones running older versions of iOS up to 10.1.1).

Thankfully, there is a way to deal with them.

Pocket-Lint explains, ‘Launch Safari on your phone
Go to vincedes3.com/save.html
This will bring up a dialogue box saying “Open this page in Messages”
Click “Open” and it will place the message in your Messages app
Delete the malicious text thread and the Vincedes text too.’
