Topless protester, Junos crasher throws pink paint at Trudeau's office: Climate group

On2Ottawa shared footage of a protester throwing pink paint at the Canadian prime minister's office before going topless.

A topless protester who crashed the Juno Awards last month has now thrown pink paint at the prime minister's office in Ottawa, according to a climate change advocacy group.

On2Ottawa took to Twitter on Saturday afternoon to share footage of Casey Hatherly, who goes by the name Ever, vandalizing the entranceway to Justin Trudeau's office with what appears to be a bucket of pink paint.

In a photo, the protester posed topless next to a sign reading, "Demand climate action now!"

"We are here in Ottawa to demand a citizens's assembly to address the desperate need for climate action now, not in the five to 10 years our government has slated," the protester is quoted as saying in a statement released by the group.

"Overextraction is already showing us its dangerous repercussions. Here and around the world we are seeing fires, floods, droughts and food shortages. The time for dramatic action is now, we still have time to make a difference, but we only have 712 days."

According to the statement, the woman also chained herself to the office's doorway. The group added that the protest was also aimed "to raise awareness for the upcoming caravan coming to Ottawa this August."

The Ottawa Citizen reported that two people were detained following the incident, with the Ottawa Police Services confirming one of those detainees and that the investigation was ongoing.

In March, protesters from the same group splashed pink paint on the Royal B.C. Museum's woolly mammoth replica in Victoria. That led to three people being arrested for mischief.

At last month's Juno Awards in Edmonton, Hatherly saw national attention after walking on stage while topless as Canadian singer Avril Lavigne started introducing a performance.

Messages written on the protester's upper body included "land back" and "save the Greenbelt." The latter referred to Ontario's decision last fall to open a protected area of land for housing.

Lavigne demanded she get off the stage, and Hatherly was escorted away by security until spending the night in custody.

Hatherly also faces a mischief charge stemming from that Juno Awards incident.
