Two women killed, two boys hurt in eastern Alberta collision

Man, 67, killed in truck, semi collision south of Tisdale, Sask.

Two women died and two boys were injured Wednesday when an SUV was hit broadside by a semi-truck near the village of Myrnam, 170 kilometres east of Edmonton.

The SUV was northbound on Highway 881 at 1:30 p.m. when it proceeded from a stop sign at an intersection with Highway 45, RCMP said in a news release.

It was struck on the passenger side by a westbound semi-truck.

The 37-year-old female driver, from Niagara Falls, Ont., and a 32-year-old female passenger, from Victoria, B.C., died at the scene.

An eight-year-old boy from Niagara Falls was taken to hospital in Two Hills by ground ambulance and later transferred by STARS to the Stollery Children's Hospital in Edmonton. He is in serious but non-life threatening condition, RCMP said.

A 12-year-old boy, also from Niagara Falls, was taken to Two Hills hospital by ground ambulance with non-life threatening injuries.

Two Hills RCMP are asking local residents to be on the lookout for a four-year-old black and white border collie named Oliver.

The dog was involved in the collision but is believed to have run away.

The collision remains under investigation.
