Yahoo Sports Devin Booker replacing injured Anthony Davis in All-Star Game
This didn't take long.
After Devin Booker's omission from NBA All-Star rosters drew widespread criticism on Tuesday, he joined the Western Conference All-Stars on Wednesday.
The NBA announced that the Phoenix Suns guard will replace injured Los Angeles Lakers forward Anthony Davis. Davis was selected as a reserve, but is sidelined with a calf strain. Commissioner Adam Silver made the decision to add Booker.
The selection is Booker's second straight and the second of his career. Silver also chose Booker as an injury replacement last season for Damian Lillard.
Booker's All-Star credentials
Booker is averaging 24.7 points, 4.3 assists and 3.8 rebounds while shooting 50.1 percent from the field and 38.1 percent from 3-point distance. His numbers are down slightly from last year's All-Star campaign as he shares a backcourt with first-year Suns guard Chris Paul, who is also an All-Star.
But with the Suns' emergence as a force in the Western Conference amid a 20-10 start, many argued that Booker earned an All-Star bid. Count LeBron James in that camp.
After Booker was left off the initial roster, James called Booker "the most disrespected player in our league."
One day, Booker, 24, likely won't need to depend on an injury to make an All-Star roster. But for now he's in his rightful spot among the league's best players, even if his arrival was a day late.
