Apparently there's a 'right' way to brush your hair

The best way to look after your hair has always been a bit of a mystery. We’ve all questioned many haircare myths such as whether cutting your hair frequently makes it grow faster. And should we air-dry our locks rather than blow-drying them? What about using conditioner? Does that work?

It’s a minefield of possible mistakes.

Fortunately, experts have now revealed that there is definitely one thing we should all be doing – and that is to brush our hair more. Erm, really? Yes, turns out those days where we just bung our hair up in a messy bun as we head out the door isn’t doing our mane much good.

We lose an average of 120 hairs a day to make room for the new hair strands coming through. However, if you don’t brush your hair enough, you won’t lose as many, which means you’ll have less healthy hair.

A lot of reasons why we all get confused with all these hair tips is that the advice differs depending on what type of hair you have. But we’ve got your sorted there, too.

If you have straight hair the one thing you should never do is to brush your hair when it’s wet (guilty). This is because when your hair is still fresh out the shower it’s weaker, meaning it’s more likely to break. None of us want that.

However, this habit may be hard to break, as we all know leaving your hair to do it’s own thing can leave it matted and frizzy.

Lucky for you, if you have curly hair you are given the go-ahead to brush your hair when wet. However, you are advised not to brush it when it’s dry, instead you should comb your hair with your fingers.

Not sure that’ll sort out the bird’s nest on top of our head at the end of a work day, but if that’s what the experts say, then we should probably all give it a whirl.
