Carrie Underwood tells fans she “might look a bit different” after freak accident

Carrie Underwood has opened up about a freak accident last November that left her with a broken wrist and a serious facial injury. She shared the devastating news on her official fan page this week, saying that she needed more than 40 stitches to her face.

Having discussed the damage to her wrist after bowing out of a benefit concert, the 34-year-old singer revealed her facial injuries were worse than expected and noted she was “not quite looking the same,” afterward.

"There is also another part of the story that I haven't been ready to talk about, since I have still been living it and there has been much uncertainty as to how things will end up,” she wrote. "It's crazy how a freak random accident can change your life. In addition to breaking my wrist, I somehow managed to injure my face as well."

The blog post continued: "When I am ready to get in front of a camera, I want you all to understand why I might look a bit different. I'm hoping that, by then, the differences are minimal, but, again, I just don't know how it's all going to end up."

Luckily, Carrie is surrounded by an incredibly supportive family. Her Canadian husband, Mike Fisher, and son Isaiah have been there for her throughout the ordeal. The couple celebrated their five-year anniversary last year and they seemed more in love than ever. Speaking to E! News, the singer gushed, “He's amazing. He's such a great dad and he's so supportive of what I do and I'm supportive of him and we just love our little family."

Hard to beat tobogganing with the little man in the great white north!
