Charles Reportedly Invited Harry And Meghan To Stay With Him, But Security Is A Major Concern
Prince Charles has reportedly invited Prince Harry, Meghan Markle, and their two children to come stay with him and Duchess Camilla in England.
But lack of proper security for the Sussexes is an ongoing issue.
Unfortunately, Harry and Meghan no longer get police protection like other high profile members of the royal family.
Prince Charles has reportedly invited Prince Harry, Meghan Markle, and their two children to come stay with him and Duchess Camilla in England—but lack of proper security for the Sussexes is an ongoing issue.
"The Prince of Wales has been saddened that he hasn’t had the opportunity to spend time with his grandchildren, which he really does miss," a source tells The Mirror (via The Sun). “He is a fantastic grandfather and loves playing the role immensely and it’s certainly fair to say he feels there is something missing from his life without the ability to get to know Harry’s children. This is something he is hoping to remedy which is why he made the gesture for Harry, Meghan and the children to stay with him if they wanted to, whenever they may come home for a period of time."
The source adds that “In the meantime there has been a series of good-natured and enjoyable calls between them all which is something the prince very much looks forward to.”
Unfortunately, Harry and Meghan no longer get police protection like other high profile members of the royal family, which makes traveling to England risky for them. Harry's legal spokesperson released a statement explaining the situation over the weekend:
“The UK will always be Prince Harry's home and a country he wants his wife and children to be safe in... With the lack of police protection comes too great a personal risk. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex personally fund a private security team for their family, yet that security cannot replicate the necessary police protection needed whilst in the UK. In the absence of such protection, Prince Harry and his family are unable to return to his home.”
The statement goes on to say that Harry has offered to pay for security himself.

“Prince Harry inherited a security risk at birth, for life,” his legal spokesperson explained. “He remains sixth in line to the throne, served two tours of combat duty in Afghanistan, and in recent years his family has been subjected to well-documented neo-Nazi and extremist threats. While his role within the institution has changed, his profile as a member of the Royal Family has not. Nor has the threat to him and his family.”
Here's to hoping the Sussexes get the protection they deserve / need so they can visit their family in England safely.
