Page Six and E! got new reports on the couple's rekindled romance this week, with multiple sources detailing how Lopez feels like their reconciling is just right given their history and longtime feelings for each other. Lopez and Affleck originally dated in the early 2000s but ultimately ended their engagement in early 2004.
Page Six reported that Lopez reluctantly called off their engagement then. “Jennifer always saw Ben as the one that got away,” the outlet's source said. “She was crushed after they broke up, though she felt at the time that she had no other choice but to call off their engagement.”
“As hot and heavy as their relationship was, they were on very different paths at the end of it,” the source continued. “Jennifer was ready to settle down and have kids, but Ben wasn’t keen on giving up his bachelor lifestyle just yet. In the end, she got tired of waiting for him to come around—even though it broke her heart to end things.”
Now, 17 years later, Bennifer's love story has a new chapter—and it is going wonderfully.
A source close to Lopez told E! that she and Affleck “are inseparable, and it's going really well. [She] has never been happier and knows it was meant to be.” Lopez's 13-year-old twins Max and Emme, who had dinner with Lopez and Affleck when they were photographed kissing at Nobu, “really like Ben and think he's funny and fun to be around. He's totally won the family over with his charm."
