'Jeopardy!' Fans Rally Around Mayim Bialik After She Shared Health News On IG

As Jeopardy!’s latest season continues to wind down with Mayim Bialik standing behind the podium, many contestants are claiming a spot in the upcoming Tournament of Champions. But off-camera and away from the quiz show’s stage, The Big Bang Theory star has traded her clue cards for a cup of tea.

On June 19, Mayim revealed in a series of Instagram videos that she was diagnosed with a breakthrough case of COVID-19. The 46-year-old actress is vaccinated and boosted, according to an Instagram caption. The Call Me Kat star explained how she's feeling both physically and mentally in a seven-minute clip, which she promoted on her main social media account.

“Hey everybody. Not sure if this is clickbait or not but I have COVID and I just posted a video,” she said in the preview snippet. “Go over to [Mayim] Bialik’s Breakdown [on Instagram]. Follow us while you’re at it. I [did] a whole video about [COVID] … I hope everyone’s doing OK … Watch the thing that I posted. Please? Maybe or not. Do whatever you want. I’m going to drink this tea and go nap.”

In Mayim’s Instagram Live, she revealed that she may have contracted the disease while traveling. The Jeopardy! cohost also shared that she has asthma and a thyroid condition, which made it more likely for her to experience severe symptoms and side effects, as she's considered immunocompromised.

In the same clip, she opened up about how coming down with the novel coronavirus impacted her mental health. “I will say that something that I hadn’t kind of anticipated is I have a new level of anxiety about going out,” she said. “Part of me feels guilty that I went out. I feel sad and I’m worried about the world again … I know the intensity will pass when I’m feeling better hopefully but right now it just feels like ‘OK, I live in my house.’”

Thankfully, on June 21, she shared another update. “I’m feeling better. Thank you to everyone who reached out to me,” Mayim said in a follow-up Instagram video. She opened up about her older son also having COVID-19. What’s more, fellow Big Bang Theory cast member Melissa Rauch sent her a care package with soup and tea.

After hearing about her COVID-19 diagnosis and her concerns prompted by it, Jeopardy! fans reached out to her in the comments section with heartfelt and encouraging messages. "So happy to hear you are feeling better! ❤️🙏🏻," one person wrote. “Thank you so much for sharing!! I hope you and your son feel better soon!! Sending tons of positive vibes your way!! ❤️🙏🏻,” another added.

We’re wishing Mayim a speedy recovery!
