Meghan Markle and Prince Harry Reveal Archie’s Favorite Word to Oprah

From ELLE

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have made a point to give their nearly two-year-old son Archie a more private life than his royal cousins, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis. But Archie's adoring parents told Oprah several new things about what their son is like now, especially as he settles into their new California home.

“This year has been crazy for everybody,” Harry said. “But to have outdoor space where I can go for walks with Archie and we can go for walks as a family and with the dogs or have a hike or go down to the beach, which is so close, all of these things…

“The highlight for me is sticking him on the back of the bicycle in his little baby seat and taking him on these bike rides, which is something I was never able to do when I was young. I can see him on the back and he's got his arms out and he's going “Woooo!” Chatting, chatting, chatting, and he's going, “Palm tree! house!” and all this stuff.

Oprah also asked about Archie’s favorite word. “Oh my gosh, he's on a roll,” Meghan replied. “In the past couple weeks, it's been ‘hydrate,’ which is just hysterical.” Harry addd, “But also, any time anyone leaves the house, he's like ‘Drive safe!’ Meghan laughed: “‘Drive safe!’ He's not even two yet.”

Before Meghan and Harry’s interview with Oprah, Harry spoke a little about his son during his recent Carpool Karaoke segment with James Corden. “My son is now over a year and a half,” Harry told Corden. “He is hysterical. He’s got the most amazing personality: He’s already putting two, three words together, he’s already singing songs.”

Harry added that Archie loves waffles so much that Meghan asked the queen to get him a waffle maker for Christmas. “Interestingly, my grandmother asked us what Archie wanted for Christmas and Meg said a waffle maker, she sent us a waffle maker for Archie, so for breakfast now, Meg makes up a beautiful organic mix, in the waffle maker, flip it, out it comes, he loves it,” Harry recalled. “Archie literally wakes up in the morning and says ‘waffle.’”

Harry also proudly revealed Archie's first word: “His first word was ‘crocodile,’ three syllables.”
