Prince William Cheers on Prince George at His Weekend Soccer Game (and Fans Can’t Believe How Tall He Is)

While Prince William and Kate Middleton have many duties to fulfill as royals, they also enjoy their role as parents to three children. And the Duke of Cambridge was seen in full dad mode this past weekend when he went to cheer on his eldest son, Prince George, 8, as he played in a soccer (or as the Brits call it, football) game.

In a pair of photos that were shared by The Rumble Online on Twitter, the duke is seen standing with the opposing team (in a display of good sportsmanship), followed by an action shot of Prince George looking intently focused during the middle of his game.

The caption said, “This is wonderful! The Duke of Cambridge accompanied his son Prince George to a football game on Saturday!!” The Rumble Online also remarked on how tall Prince George appears in the photo, writing “ Also… how TALL is George!” And fans agree, with one user commenting, “He's going to be tall just like his dad” and another adding, “ George is going to be tall like his father and mother!”

A love of soccer runs strong throughout this family. Prince William has been an avid supporter of the English football club Aston Villa throughout the years, and as Prince George gets older, he appears to be picking up the passion from his father.

Back in 2019, the young royal was seen at the Carrow Road arena with his father, cheering loudly for Aston Villa during the match. Then, last June, the father and son were spotted wearing matching outfits at Wembley Stadium, joined by mom Kate Middleton. The trio even chatted with David Beckham ahead of the game.

However, while the duke is often found on the sidelines of soccer games and is even the President of England's Football Association, he is not known to play the sport often, instead opting for other games like polo. Nevertheless, it appears that Will and Kate's oldest child has taken a liking to the sport.

Do we have a future royal soccer star in our midst? Only time will tell.
