Fans of The Voice have grown accustomed to seeing two seasons of the singing competition a year since the show began airing in the spring of 2011. But that's about to change in 2022.

As recently announced, the popular series will now only run for one cycle this year. NBC made this announcement after revealing The Voice’s fall schedule and confirming that the show will no longer have a spring season.

Frances Berwick of NBCUniversal Television and Streaming told Deadline:

"We think The Voice will be on NBC for a very long time to come and we believe the best way to protect the brand, while also superserving fans, is to produce one amazing cycle this year."

The Voice isn't the first competition series to transition to one season per year. Over on ABC, Dancing With the Stars also started only premiering one season a year back in 2019.

Meanwhile, we're still waiting to hear if all of last season's coaches will be returning this fall for the upcoming season. Ariana Grande made her coaching debut in season 21 and was both a fan and coach favorite. John Legend told Entertainment Tonight: "We always have fun, but honestly, Ariana threw herself into it. She's passionate about it, and it's fun to have somebody new because you get to see the show through their eyes, because you've been there for a while, but when you see their excitement and their passion, it kind of makes you feel like, 'Yeah, I'm pretty lucky to have this job, it's pretty cool."

With the coaches having such amazing chemistry, we hope to see Ariana, Blake Shelton, Kelly Clarkson and John as coaches back in their red swivel chairs.
